Holton, Valerie, PhD, LCSW
Valerie Holton, PhD, LCSW, blends over 17 years of direct service, management, and board experience in the human service sector with expertise in research and evaluation methods. A native of Richmond, Virginia, she has worked extensively on the intersection of housing, homelessness, and poverty. She currently serves on the board of Virginia Supportive Housing where she chairs the Program and Evaluation Committee. She has developed innovative training programs for case managers throughout Virginia and regularly leads the Nonprofit Learning Point courses in this area. Since 2005, Valerie has served as adjunct instructor at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) in both the School of Education and School of Social Work at the undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral levels. As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, she maintains an active therapy practice with a focus on supporting adolescents and women during life transitions. Valerie holds a B.A. from William & Mary and her MSW and PhD from VCU.
